Asylum/Refugees – Initial Application / Defense to Deportation
ASYLUM Applications: Persecution in a foreign country provides the basis for obtaining legal status in the United States. IBLF has been successful in representing clients facing persecution in the their home countries, and has developed special expertise with respect to applicants or refugees from Ethiopia, Cameroons, Rwanda, Congo, Sri Lanka, India, Tanzania, India, Bangladesh, Albania, El Salvador, Honduras, Venezuela, and countries in Eastern Europe.
Asylum must be filed within a year of arrival in the United States, and there are often issues that the manner of entry, evidence of persecution, and identity which affect the success of such applications.
IBLF works with potential asylees both in the initial interview with an Asylum field office, or in litigation in Immigration Court (also known as defensive asylum).
